"Leola's",
a lovely thing, has become a wonderful, unexpected adventure.
We were participants in a fantastic storefront belonging to
young friends of ours. When they made the decision to leave
their permanent location and do only shows, "Leola's" was born.
There are four of us; three sisters and a niece, as shop owners.
We are joined by another sister and a few friends, in a "co-op"
of sorts. Our lives were and are colored by the environment
of the 40's, 50's and 60's. We love the chintz fabrics of
Sister Parrish and the "country squire" of Ralph Lauren. We
have been in awe of Carol Bolton since we first walked into her
Homestead Shops in Fredricksburg, Texas.
While we admire these designers, we have our own styles. We
are eclectic, traditional, urban, country, and everything in between.
Our deeply ingrained sense of "gentle-recycling" is apparent
when you step through the door of "Leola's". It is our goal
to bring our customers a unique and affordable selection of furniture,
textiles, ephemera, architectural salvage and garden decor.
For those who have inquired about our name, here is a brief history:
From 1985 through 1995, when five sisters were all living in Springfield,
Missouri, and our mother was still living, we owned a shop in Galloway
Village. Galloway was and still is a quaint spot in southeast
Springfield. Our mother spent many of her days helping run
"Eli McGee", our shop. When we had the opportunity to start
our new venture we thought it only proper to bring Leola, our mother
and grandmother, along for the ride. Our shop signage is taken
from one of the many photos we are lucky enough to have of her.
We hope to soon welcome many of you to our shop, located in historic
Ozark, Missouri.
